"This is a remarkably well executed and conceptually consistent debut. What strikes me most is the stark contrast between the stylish, sophisticated music and the naked honesty of the lyrics. Musically, I am reminded of Portishead -- jazzy, triphop fused with psychedelic goth-folk. She applies her sultry voice to real world storytelling. Plain words like 'beer' and 'spaghetti' jump out with a poetic force as she wisely avoid dubious word choices like, say, "cabernet and risotto." The sequencing works well. Meet the Girl is a natural opener. And I like the fact she saved the two most diverse tracks for the end. Charlotte turns the cold chill up to 11 on track nine (where those pesky vampires arise), then closes out with the most tender song of the lot. I can see Charlotte gaining a huge fan base of depressed young girls and a small contingent of masochistic-submissive dudes. But I'd dare say she'd scare the shit out of most guys. With her fearsome combo of vampish allure and feminist angst, she's like the Lorena Bobbitt of pop. Charlotte lists Nick Cave as an influence, and the arrangements bear resemblance to some of his more recent piano-based records. Charlotte says she is now working on film music, and there is a certain, moody, cinematic feel to this project as well." --Milo Ippolito, Gloomytunes.com
“Dame of Droll, Saint of Sarcasm, Ms. Sneer Demure. Her intense semi-demented (yet oh so articulate) vocal stylings and damn it, goddess-given edgy charisma made for a memorable performance! All this and she did it without any silly props such as scary make up, tattoos, piercing or outrageous clothes. Her lovely weirdness is stealthy, more real and hidden on the inside.” --Dino Dinaso, Aeroevents.org
"An intelligent, witty, raw, and extremely talented singer and songwriter. Our show is better when we are allowed the privilege of having a woman like her join us." --Samantha Cramer, KXLU's Neuz Pollution, 88.9 FM Los Angeles
"A brilliant performer and a charming woman." --Bill Greenlee, KVCM Los Angeles
“Charlotte Wincott is a brilliant singer/songwriter. Her songs are stunning and cover a wide range of emotions. The lyrics are full of passion, angst, humor and - most of all - intelligence." --Steve Sturla, RealHollywood.TV
“She plays the outlaw card. Lyrics punch you in the face. Very raw.” –Mark Drury
“Make comparisons to Harvey/Difranco. Spartan lyrical honesty.” –Bret Hart, The Unheard Music
“Charlotte Wincott, who sings just as great as she looks, i.e. she’s sensational. Stylish sophisticated music; nakedly honest lyrics; jazzy triphop fused with psychedelic goth-folk.” –Cabaret Voltaire Playbill
"One hell of a siren on the rocks. A rare, pleasant thing, to discover some upward when most stuff just parallels the ground." --Gar Robertson, www.yctiwy.com
"Absolutely amazing. Such a great find." --Derek Caballero
